Foundation Board visits Southwestern Kansas

December 14, 2012

The Foundation Board held its semi-annual meetings in Southwestern Kansas. The Board was graciously hosted by the Mennonite Evangelical Church in Copeland, Kansas. The Board took the opportunity to learn about the 5000+  Low German speaking Mennonites that have made their home in the Montezuma, Copeland, Sublette, Ulysses and Liberal area. Board meetings were held on Saturday and on Sunday Board members visited area churches. Executive Director, Hans Werner made a presentation on the history of Mennonites in Siberia and showed pictures of a visit he made there in 2010. There was active interest and discussion about what Siberia was like, stimulated in part by recent interest in acquiring land in Tartarstan by Mennonites from Mexico.
