Mennonites and Human Rights Conference

August 17, 2012

to be held at the University of Winnipeg, October 18-20. The Chair in Mennonite Studies is hosting a conference with research papers from a wide variety of disciplines, considering at every turn how Mennonites have been challenged by the question of human rights and state power, in ways such as being victims, beneficiaries and advocates.

Although Mennonites have not often used ‘human rights’ terminology, this conference asserts that the Mennonite experience can shed light on the issue of human rights, examining it from the perspective of a religious, non-violent and communitarian heritage. Click here for more information.
