Plett Foundation Supports Kansas History Conference

July 6, 2010

On June 25th and 26th historians and interested Kansas Mennonites met for a history conference that explored the theme of Mennonites: Marginal or Mainstream? The conference focused on Mennonites in Europe after the end of the Radical Reformation of the 16th Century. Mennonites have often been thought of as those who withdrew from mainstream society in the face of persecution and migration. The conference explored the theme of Mennonites and Modernity with papers about Mennonites in the Netherlands, Russia, Germany and Polish Prussia. The Plett Foundation was one of the financial contributors that made the conference and the publishing of its proceedings possible.
