The Pletts of Blumenhof Exhibit

September 8, 2010

The University of Winnipeg’s Anthropology Department has an exhibit of the artifacts recovered from an excavation at the former location of the Plett farmstead in the former village of Blumenhof near Steinbach. In the summers of 2008 and 2009 archaelogists excavated the remains of the Cornelius and Sarah Plett Homestead, which was inhabited from 1875 to 1906. Some of the artifacts discovered at the site are on display on the third floor of Centennial Hall at the University of Winnipeg. They offer a window into what life was like for the Pletts over one hundred years ago.
